Le Clé des Montagnes means ‘the key to the mountain’ and that is exactly what is on offer. All guests are invited to unlock the secrets to living like a local and La Clé becomes your home away from home.
La Clé des Montagnes is spread over two working farms and is a short walk from the village. It is a French-accented retreat with a working vineyard, orchards and lavender-flecked gardens located in the heart of Franschhoek.
Choose from a range of unique room and suite types across the estate as well as exclusive villas. There is something for everyone.
A relaxed breakfast is served for room and suite guests at Le Cle Lodge overlooking rose and wisteria-filled gardens above the vineyards. Each of the four villas offers a private and peaceful retreat.
Discovery a sense of tranquility, space & style in the heart of Franschhoek.
Community and sustainable resource usage lies at the core of La Clé des Montagnes.
The owners are foundation sponsors of The Kusasa Project, a local community organization that serves 1500 children in 5 local schools, utilizing up to 60 volunteers and operating both in-school and after-school programs. These programs range from feeding, literacy, sport, life skills to art, drama, chess and ballet. They focus on disadvantaged children, to offer activities which schools are unable to offer.
La CLé is part of a ‘leiwater system’ where water is channeled from rivers and dams through canals to supply irrigation water to the working farm. All water not used goes back into the river, so none of it is wasted.
La Clé is continuously striving to lessen its ecological footprint and continues to contribute positively to the Franschhoek Valley.
