The 22,000 hectares of pristine private wilderness stretches either side of the Great Fish River which meanders for 30 kilometres through scenic landscape and comprises just thirty rooms split across five very individual and distinct safari lodges and villas, affording it one of the highest land-to-guest ratios in South Africa.
As one of the largest privately owned game reserves, guests enjoy a sense of space which they are able to explore through variety of safari activities tailored for couples, families, and groups of friends.
The Kwandwe team is dedicated to providing a superior and authentic safari experience, led by an award-winning team of highly qualified and experienced rangers, activities on the reserve are diverse and offer both young and old the opportunity to create lifelong memories.
Kwandwe is a true conservation and community success story – conserving the environment and improving the prospects of community members is at the heart of all they do.
The Kwande team seeks to maintain a low impact on the land while deriving high yield for their conservation initiatives by creating very small luxury lodges that support enormous tracts of biodiverse land, which remains untouched. At every lodge, Kwandwe seeks out small (and sometimes not so small) but meaningful ways of putting their values into action every day.
Kwandwe’s community development initiatives are facilitated by the Ubunye Foundation, which works on economic development, education and health initiatives in eleven villages surrounding Kwandwe.
It is Kwandwe’s ultimate purpose to contribute sustainably to the environment, protect biodiversity, and positively impact the surrounding communities. Every guest will leave Kwandwe understanding that they have actively participated in their shared vision.
